d) ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN: 3.3.D

D-: We need a bi-weekly or monthly newsletter of information relevant to the 17th century, put on the website for all to see and search and also sent by email to our members (and Francis's list member, as he suggested).

This could be done in the form of a blog.

For this, we need to put together the biggest team of collaborators, preferably young scholars and grad students. The web-designer will be primarily responsible for providing the tech support.

We list info such as conferences, meetings, lectures, new publications, special events, call for papers, deadlines, new movies, theater plays, prizes awarded to members,  job offers, etc...

We basically take the info from websites like Cometes and Fabula, lists like Francis's, societies' web-pages, and every other info we can think of / receive personally.

The lead editors should also provide the website with an article that in a paragraph or so brings to light some aspect of 17th c France (an event around a significant date; the publication of a new book; a 17th c 'celeb' in the news, etc.)  This could be staged so that these 'items' appear on the front page newest at the top.

Where we will make a difference is in the interdisciplinarity of the newsletter. For that reason, we need to cover all disciplines. Maybe the editorial board of the Cahiers could help with that, either simply send us info, or find us one of their grad students willing to do it.

Technically, the team sends their info 4 days before the publication of the newsletter to the lead editors of the newsletter, which put all the info together in a given format, and to put it on the website, and send it to the list members.

ALSO, DO YOU THINK THE EDITORIAL BOARD FOR THE CAHIER COULD BE INVOLVED?
