Annonce de Michel Corvin:

« Les éditions Bordas qui lancèrent en 1991 le Dictionnaire encyclopédique du Théâtre dirigé par Michel Corvin se consacrent désormais exclusivement aux livres scolaires et se débarrassent du stock. Il s’agit de la 4 ème et dernière édition datant de 2008 : elle contient plus de 2.650 articles et, en 1583 pages et 1,200 kg, envisage l’univers du théâtre et des théâtres du monde entier, des origines à nos jours, sous tous leurs aspects : auteurs, acteurs, metteurs en scène, institutions théâtrales et troupes ; architectes, éclairagistes, décorateurs, peintres et scénographes ; concepts esthétiques, formes, genres, théoriciens et critiques ; données économiques, juridiques, institutionnelles et politiques… L’ouvrage, complété par une importante bibliographie est enrichi de trois index : des noms, des œuvres, de la pratique et de la théorie théâtrales. 

 

Pour empêcher que le Dictionnaire ne finisse en pâte à papier, Michel Corvin a racheté le tout et le propose aux amateurs de théâtre à moitié prix, soit 42, 5 € au lieu de 85 €. Le produit net des ventes sera réservé pour le financement d’un volume (100/150 pages) de mise à jour 2015/2016 du Dictionnaire. »

16th-17th century French drama and theater - Assistant Professor of French (Wesleyan Univ.) source: Fabula

Assistant Professor of French

Beginning July 1, 2016. 

We seek a colleague with expertise in 16th- and 17th-century French drama and theater, with an interest in teaching other writers of the period (e.g., Rabelais, Montaigne, Marguerite de Navarre, and Léry), and an ability to offer courses on 20th- and 21st-century French-language theater. A strong secondary interest in other performing arts of the early modern period (ballet, opera) and/or in staging French plays would be especially welcome. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute broadly to an interdisciplinary French Studies curriculum ranging from the Middle Ages to the present. Preference will be given to applicants eager to collaborate with scholars in other disciplines and departments. Applicants should be able and eager to teach at all levels of the curriculum, from elementary language courses to seminars in French and English. We invite candidates to describe their cultural competencies and experiences engaging a diverse student body. The teaching load is two courses per semester and Wesleyan offers a generous sabbatical policy. Requirements: PhD in hand or near completion by time of appointment; native or near-native fluency in French; and tangible evidence of scholarly promise and excellence in language instruction.

Domaines de spécialisation : Ancien Régime, avec accent sur les discours littéraire et philosophique. Seront aussi considérés vos intérêts pour la transmédialité des œuvres littéraires, le théâtre et les littératures minoritaires francophones hors-Québec. The Department of French, University of Victoria, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level, beginning July 1, 2016.

Specialisation: Pre-1800 Literatures and Cultures, with a focus on literary and philosophical discourses. We will also consider your interest in transmediation of literary works, drama and minority literatures of French Canada outside Québec. A specialisation in digital humanities will be an asset.

Responsibilities: Teaching language, literatures and cultures in French language, and in your research area, at the undergraduate and graduate levels; supervision of master’s students; participation in the functions of the Department (programs and course content, research, committees).

Qualifications: PhD in the field. Excellence in teaching: teaching dossier complete with evaluations and pedagogical synthesis. Excellence in research: publications and grants possibilities. Collaborative projects in teaching or research will be an asset. Knowledge and use of Information Technologies for teaching and research required.

J'ai le plaisir de vous annoncer que le nouveau site internet de la Société d'Étude du XVIIe siècle a ouvert récemment. Vous pouvez dès à présent le consulter à l'adresse suivante :

Par la même occasion, d'un commun accord avec nos amis du CIR 17 qui en avaient eu les premiers l'idée, nous relançons un annuaire international des dix-septiémistes, qui concernera toutes les disciplines. Un tel outil n'a bien sûr d'intérêt que si beaucoup de gens participent : c'est pourquoi je vous serais reconnaissant de distraire quelques instants pour remplir la petite fiche de renseignements que je vous adresse en pièce jointe (en ne renseignant que les rubriques que vous souhaitez voir figurer sur le site). Il suffit de me renvoyer le document une fois rempli, et je m'occuperai de la mise en forme (code couleur par discipline etc.)

N'hésitez pas à faire circuler ce formulaire et à parler du site autour de vous (collègues, thésards etc.).
