The Society for Interdisciplinary French Seventeenth-Century Studies (SE17) is pleased to announce its first ever virtual conference, to take place in two synchronous on-line sessions, Thursday October 22–Friday October 23 and Friday November 6–Saturday November 7, with work-in-progress workshops and a variety of asynchronous activities offered to participants over the course of the two-week period during and between conference sessions.
SE17 looks forward to exploring new ways to gather scholars of seventeenth-century France from across the disciplines in this time of pandemic. Conference round tables will foreground issues both urgent and timely, most prominently among them race and racism in the early modern world and in early modern French studies today. True to the convivial and inclusive spirit of the SE17, the conference will provide many different types of opportunities for dynamic exchange, both scholarly and social. We extend a warm welcome to colleagues and graduate students from all disciplines, and in particular to BIPOC scholars and graduate students as well as to all scholars and students whose work engages with issues of social and racial justice.

La Société d’Études Pluridisciplinaires du Dix-septième Siècle Français (SE17) a le plaisir d’annoncer son tout premier colloque virtuel, lequel se tiendra en deux sessions synchrones en ligne, du jeudi 22 octobre au vendredi 23 octobre, et du vendredi 6 novembre au samedi 7 novembre, avec des ateliers portant sur les travaux en cours et une variété d’activités asynchrones offertes aux participant·e·s, s’étalant sur une période de deux semaines.
La SE17 se réjouit d’avance d’explorer de nouveaux moyens d’accueillir les spécialistes du dix-septième siècle français durant ce temps de pandémie. Des tables rondes porteront sur des questions urgentes et pertinentes, parmi celles ayant trait tout particulièrement à la race et au racisme dans la première modernité ainsi qu’aux travaux pertinents portant sur cette période. Afin de promouvoir l’esprit convivial et inclusif de la SE17, le colloque fournira des possibilités nombreuses et variées d’échanges dynamiques, au niveau scientifique ou personnel. Nous accueillons chaleureusement les collègues ainsi que doctorant·e·s dans toutes les disciplines, en particulier des PANDC (BIPOC), aussi bien que tou·te·s ceux·elles dont les travaux portent sur des questions de justice sociale et raciale.
