What: virtual exhibitions in French and English on a variety of topics that touch on the 17th century in context, including the Globes of the Sun King, nautical maps, a history of games, and fairy tales.

These may be useful to provide brief historical overviews on given subjects for undergraduate courses.

During the War of Devolution, Louis XIV initiates secret negotiations with the Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I to establish the Treaty of Partition, an agreement dividing the dominions of Spain between France and the Empire in anticipation of the demise of the sickly Carlos II. Their plans are frustrated by Carlos’s unexpected longevity.
