MARRS 2016 – Call for papers
DECEMBER 10-11, 2016 - VIRGINIA TECH - Blacksburg, Virginia
The Mid-Atlantic Renaissance/Reformation Seminar (MARRS) is a long-established, interdisciplinary humanities colloquium, roughly covering the period 1450-1650. It has typically gathered scholars from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, although all are welcome to attend.
We are welcoming submissions in the form of 200-word abstracts on any topic (current research/works-in-progress only). Please email your proposal a Word attachment along with your professional information to the 2016 MARRS host/organizer: Dr. Corinne Noirot, Associate Professor of French at Virginia Tech, Medieval and Early-Modern Studies program affiliate faculty.
Submission deadline: August 15, 2016, to cnoirot@vt.edu.
The committee will select 6-9 complementary scholarly papers (20-mins + Q&A; PhDs and ABDs only) for the 3 main sessions, as well as 3-6 advanced undergraduate/MA student presentations for the student forum (5 mins + Q&A).
Nota bene: Submitting an abstract entails a commitment to be present for the entire duration of the colloquium, Friday 6:00pm-Saturday 4:00pm. A small registration fee (likely $40), will be required of all participants employed as faculty. Registration will be $10 for unemployed/part-time faculty as well as participants with student status. All undergraduate students and members of the VT community will be able attend free of charge.
