College of Charleston, MLA, French, Francophone & Italian Studies Instructor of French

The Department of French, Francophone, and Italian Studies anticipates hiring a full-time Instructor to teach and coordinate undergraduate French classes at the first and second year levels. The position includes the coordination of both adjuncts and faculty, and may include the supervision of two graduate teaching assistants. The successful candidate will be expected to teach required basic language courses, perform the coordination and supervision duties, assist with program assessment, and contribute to departmental and university service.

Minimum requirements: M.A. or M.Ed. in French in hand before the start date of mid-August and professional-level proficiency in both French and English. Preference will be given to candidates with documented successful college-level teaching experience, experience in curriculum development, applied linguistics, program articulation, assessment, or other areas of program development.

This position is not tenure track, but is renewable every 7 years contingent upon excellent performance and staffing needs. A full course load is three classes fall semester and four classes spring semester, in addition to coordination and supervision.
